Mönch Neue is a revival typeface inspired by the classical works of Anton Durstmüller and Peter Behrens. Durstmüller’s 1912 Mönch typeface and Behrens’ 1907 Antiqua were milestones in early 20th-century typography. Durstmüller’s Antiqua is more classical in style, while Behrens’ typeface has Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) stylistic features, and Mönch Neue builds upon their legacy. While staying true to the distinctive characteristics of its predecessors, the typeface introduces refined and modernized letterforms, making it simultaneously classic and contemporary.
What sets Mönch Neue apart is its unique approach to styles: Normal (Humanist Antiqua), with its natural, readable shapes; Oblique, for a dynamic and modern feel; Italic, embodying elegance; and the bold Rebellion Case, which stylishly combines Normal and Italic characters in a unique blend.
The type family is available in seven weights (Light to Black) and supports European Latin scripts. Its versatility makes it suitable for various applications, from corporate identity design to editorial and digital projects.
